Support Groups

Losing a loved one is an incredibly difficult experience that leaves a lasting emotional impact. Our bereavement support groups provide a compassionate space for individuals and families to process their grief, connect with others, and find healing.

What Are Bereavement Support Groups?

Bereavement support groups are designed to offer a safe, supportive environment where individuals can share their grief experiences with others who are going through similar challenges. These groups, guided by trained facilitators, offer emotional support, education, and coping strategies for those mourning the loss of a loved one.

The Importance of Grief Support

Grief is a natural response to loss, but it can be overwhelming and isolating. Many people find it difficult to navigate their emotions, and without the right support, this can lead to prolonged emotional suffering. Bereavement support groups provide a place where individuals can openly discuss their feelings in a non-judgmental setting. Group members often share their stories, listen to others, and learn coping mechanisms that can help them move forward.

By joining a bereavement support group, you gain:

  • Emotional Validation: Hearing others' experiences reminds you that you are not alone in your grief.
  • Coping Techniques: Learn strategies to manage overwhelming emotions.
  • Long-Term Support: Grieving doesn’t follow a set timeline, and our groups provide ongoing support as you work through your loss.

At Anvoi Hospice, we offer specialized bereavement support that is tailored to each individual's needs for up to 13 months. This is to help through all of the “firsts” without a loved one – holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and the anniversary of their passing. Our trained facilitators lead group discussions, offer educational resources, and foster a compassionate, inclusive environment for sharing.

Who Can Join a Bereavement Support Group?

Bereavement support groups are open to anyone who has lost a loved one. We believe in extending our support to the entire community, recognizing that grief affects us all differently. Whether you are newly bereaved or have been grieving for some time, our groups provide valuable support.

Virtual and In-Person Options

In addition to in-person support, virtual bereavement support groups offer accommodation to those who prefer or need online access. These virtual sessions offer the same level of care and support as in-person meetings, ensuring that no matter where you are, you can receive the emotional help you need.
